(English below) Velen onder jullie weten het al via de nieuwsbrief, een babbel of posts van anderen: naast de mooie projecten en ervaringen van de laatste maanden, hangt er sinds juli een zware uitdaging boven ons hoofd: Musica Gloria krijgt voor seizoen 2026-27 geen projectsubsidies (de twee ingediende aanvragen werden positief beoordeeld, maar vielen buiten budget). Alle steun die we reeds ontvingen in de vorm van bijdrages, aanbiedingen voor vrijwilligerswerk en mooie woorden, is hartverwarmend. Met puzzel en rekenwerk, kunnen gelukkig alle geplande concerten van dit seizoen doorgaan volgens onze artistieke en respectstandaarden naar de ensembleleden toe. De tol - die met jullie steun (deels) kan rechtgetrokken worden - is dat we geen nieuwe opnames kunnen maken en wij (Nele en Beniamino) zo goed als al het backstage werk (samen minstens het equivalent van een voltijdse job) op volledig vrijwillige basis moeten dragen. Administratie, boekhouding, communicatie, productie, verkoop en nog veel meer. En uiteraard hebben we ook onze limieten, niet in het minst omdat we beiden eigenlijk 9u slaap per nacht nodig hebben … 😉
Tegelijkertijd zetten we ons in om in december een sterk dossier in te dienen om hopelijk vanaf 2028 met structurele subsidies op een stabielere manier onze werking voort te zetten. Want daar draait het om: onze passie voor barokmuziek met zo veel mogelijk mensen delen en zo verbinding, schoonheid, diepgang en gevoeligheid de wereld insturen, met respectvol en duurzaam ondernemerschap als onze leidraad!

Many of you will already know from the newsletter, a conversation or posts by others: alongside the wonderful projects and experiences of recent months, a major challenge has been hanging over us since July: Musica Gloria will not be receiving any project grants for the 2026–27 season (the two applications submitted were assessed favourably but fell outside the budget). All the support we have already received in the form of donations, offers of voluntary work and kind words has been heart-warming. With creative thinking and careful calculations, we’re pleased to say that all this season’s planned concerts can go ahead in line with our artistic standards and our commitment to respecting our ensemble members. The downside – which can be (partly) offset by your support – is that we are unable to make any new recordings, and we (Beniamino and Nele) have to handle virtually all the backstage work (together at least the equivalent of a full-time job) on a completely voluntary basis. Administration, bookkeeping, communication, production, sales and much more. And of course we have our limits too, not least because we both actually need nine hours’ sleep a night … 😉
At the same time, we are committed to submitting a strong application in December, in the hope of continuing our work in a more stable manner from 2028 onwards, supported by long-term funding. Because that is what it’s all about: sharing our passion for Baroque music with as many people as possible, and thereby spreading connection, beauty, depth and sensitivity throughout the world, guided by respectful and sustainable entrepreneurship! ...
